Natural Gas vs. Propane Fire Pits: Which Is Right for You?

Every fire feature we sell is built for either natural gas (NG) or liquid propane (LP). You choose when you order, because the burner is set up at the factory for that fuel.

Natural gas

  • How it works: connects to your home's gas line.
  • Best for: permanent installations where a gas line is available or can be run.
  • Good to know: a gas line is typically installed by a licensed professional. Check local codes and permits.
  • Upside: no tanks to refill or swap.

Liquid propane

  • How it works: runs from a propane tank.
  • Best for: spaces without a gas line, or when you want more flexibility in placement.
  • Good to know: plan where the tank will go and how you will hide it, and keep spare fuel on hand.

How to choose

  1. If you already have a gas line near the spot, natural gas is usually the easiest long-term option.
  2. If not, compare the cost of running a line with the convenience of propane.
  3. Ask your installer before ordering. Fire features are made to order, so the fuel type cannot be changed after production.

On each product page, choose your fuel in the Gas Type option. The specifications list what is included, such as the NG orifice or LP air mixer.
