Fire Pit Ignition Options Explained: Match Lit, Fire Glow & Electronic
Share
Ignition is how your fire feature lights. The right choice depends on your budget, your power source, and how you want to use it. Options vary by model; each product page lists the ones available.
Match Lit
The simplest option. You open the gas with the key valve and light the burner by hand with a long lighter. No electricity is needed.
Match Lit with Flame Sense
Lit by hand like Match Lit, with an added flame-sensing safety feature.
Fire Glow
Includes a built-in key valve, spark button, and pilot igniter, so you can light it with the push of a button instead of a lighter.
Low Voltage Electronic Ignition (12V)
An electronic valve and pilot igniter powered by a low-voltage transformer. Lighting is electronic, which makes it convenient for frequent use.
Plug & Play (110V)
An electronic valve and pilot igniter that plug into a standard outdoor outlet. Electronic ignition with a straightforward power connection.
Which should you choose?
- No power nearby, or lowest cost: Match Lit.
- Push-button lighting with a spark button: Fire Glow.
- Most convenient everyday use: Low Voltage Electronic or Plug & Play, depending on your power setup.
Plan any electrical work with a licensed electrician, and always follow the ignition system's manual.
